Established in 1984, the Association of Independent Health Care Owners is a select group of established Nursing Referral Service Agency owners.  We focus on the concerns, needs, and growth of the home care referral industry in the state of Maryland.  We strive to define, advance, and support principles of business integrity, as well as continually improve service and care to the consumer. 

Membership is open to licensed State of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Office of Health Care Quality Nursing Referral Service Agency owners who refer independent care providers.  We presently represent the interests of over 10,000 licensed nurses and aides.

Our core principles are to:

• Develop and maintain a political base for the Association’s concerns
• Define and develop legislative relationships that will support our mission
• Educate and inform legislators, health care professionals, and the community of the benefits of Consumer Directed Care
• Promote and support privately owned home care referral services
